Single female household with one cat urgently needs cat care supplies and help with fuel costs
Firstly, thank you. This is my first time using 2Hands and it honestly blows me away that people actually visit this site to help others. So may people are asking these days.
Unfortunately, I have to ask this time around. My situation is that I am a single 35 year old female and the sole provider for myself and my cat. I lived in Prescott for 5 years, was steadily employed there for 4 years and living comfortably. Things fell apart when I accepted a job promotion with a new company just to be let go of 4 months later. I hung in there and looked for a job for 8 months, until I finally realized I had to move somewhere bigger with more opportunity. I reached out to a relative in Phoenix, moved about a month ago and am finally settled in enough to begin looking again. I’m grateful to have shelter and know things will stabilize again soon. I’ve dealt with hardship before, but not like this. I would love to get back to work full time, I’m a healthcare worker and IT specialist.
Right now, my primary request is for my cat. If she doesn’t eat, I don’t eat- she is more than ‘just a pet’ to me. I am looking for a small donation so that I can use my own discretion to shop economically but still get her what she needs. This includes litter and an affordable food that won’t do more damage to her kidneys. She has early stage renal disease. Prescription food is out of the question, so I have just done the research and am attentive to the ingredients in what I buy. I have done surprisingly well so far. She still is happy, lively and energetic.
Regarding my income, I was receiving unemployment and SNAP benefits for 6 months, but obviously I’ve been unemployed so long those resources are exhausted now. I am contacting pet food pantries, churches, local charities, work leads- all with a lot of roadblocks.
Another reason I am asking for general financial help is because there are times I need other necessities. Paper products, less available grocery items such as dairy and meat and gasoline for when I need to get somewhere. Especially when I finally start scheduling interviews.
If you think you can help and have more questions for me, I am available to answer them. Thank you for reading.
