Single mother of 3 facing eviction

MICHIGAN / Posted 3 hours ago by 399106 / New

Hello, I am reaching out with a profound sense of urgency and humility. My name is Stacey, a single mother of three from Livonia, Michigan. My children and I find ourselves in an incredibly difficult situation. We are currently on the verge of homelessness, having received an eviction notice from our current, regrettably illegal, rental property. We must vacate by the end of November and despite relentless efforts to secure stable accommodation through various Wayne County agencies, we have encountered only full shelters and extensive waitlists. There is simply nowhere secure for us to go.

The thought of exposing my children to the trauma of homelessness, after all they have already endured is terrifying. Over the past few years, my family has faced a series of devastating losses that no child should ever have to bear. We lost our home in a house fire, and our beloved pets perished in the flames. My eldest daughter, Layla, has tragically experienced more profound loss than many adults encounter in a lifetime. Within a short span, she mourned the passing of her grandfather, then her father due to an overdose while in his care. Shortly thereafter, the aforementioned house fire claimed our home and beloved pets. The grief compounded when, within the same year, she lost her uncle to an overdose and her aunt to suicide. Yet, through it all, her resilience remains a beacon of strength.

As a self-employed housekeeper, my income, while diligently earned, is primarily cash-based. This unfortunately creates significant barriers when attempting to secure legitimate housing, as I lack the formal documentation and upfront deposits landlords typically require. The financial strain was exacerbated earlier this year following the birth of my youngest son in March. The necessary time off resulted in the loss of valuable clients, plunging us into a cycle of financial difficulty from which I’ve been unable to recover. Our rent for this home was $1,900 a month, and despite my best efforts to catch up on bills, we are now close to losing everything.

While I grapple with overwhelming feelings of embarrassment and the burden of perceived failure, my children are my absolute reason for relentless perseverance. I am resolute in my commitment to provide them with the stability they so desperately deserve.

It is with this raw vulnerability and a glimmer of hope that I ask for help. If you could possibly dedicate a moment to review our story and consider helping in some way shape or form, it could genuinely be the turning point we so desperately need. I just want to give my babies a good Christmas and instead we are packing with no place to go.

Thank you sincerely for taking the time to read these words. Bless you!
With deepest gratitude,
Stacey Wallace
