Hello, my name is Maranda. My two boys and I live with my Grandparents, who took us in after we lost our house back in 2021. Prior to that, I had been a stay at home mom for four years while their Dad worked full-time. When he went to prison in January of 2021, which was completely blindsiding, I was left with past due bills that I thought had been taken care of and a collection of debt that he had been hiding from me, and no way to pay for any of it. By December of 2021, we were being evicted. I don’t have a lot of support. I definitely didn’t then. I had spent the past 5 years trapped in an abusive relationship, completely isolated from friends and family, so needless to say I had no help. We lost absolutely everything. The house, the car, nearly all of our personal belongings..but my Grandparents opened their door to us and we’ve been with them ever since. I still have not been able to get back on my feet. We live in a rural area fifteen minutes from the nearest town, I have no vehicle and my Grandparents struggle a lot themselves. We have what we need and very little extra, but every Christmas that we’ve been here, my grandparents have helped me and we’ve managed to make the holidays special for my kids..but their well went out last Thursday and it is costing them thousands of dollars to fix it. I have spent every day since scouring the internet/social media and making phone calls, trying to find some help so that my boys don’t have to wake up on Christmas morning to nothing beneath the tree. I have no money and I’m too late for any sign ups. We live in an area where resources are very limited as it is and I don’t know anyone who has the means to help us. We are all struggling, but this really is the one time of year that my kids look forward to. They are the most patient and loving little humans, and despite everything they’ve experienced, they still have so much love in their hearts. They are still little..they believe in Santa and the magic of Christmas, and I want to keep that alive for as long as I can. Please help me make that possible.
