2Hands was started out of a couple innocent, yet challenging questions. As our founder drove through downtown Spokane, WA. in 2006 and seeing the prevalence of struggle, his daughters asked – “Where do people go when they need help?” – After explaining that there were resources such as, ‘Homeless shelters’ – ‘City programs’ – ‘Local Charities’ – he felt that the answer fell short.
Realizing that struggle may not just live outside your car window through a downtown drive, but also could be living quietly in the house next door….. 2Hands was born. Why not create a place where those who need help can tell their story so those who may be able to help can find them and begin a conversation?
Now in our 18th year, 2Hands.org has been the platform to connect close to 72,000 people. Amazing stories of simply reaching out. Offering help in whichever form possible. Proving kindness and empathy flourish even when our unavoidable daily intake from news and social media makes it seem otherwise.
2Hands.org runs no ads, makes no profit and is run by a few volunteers. We work daily to keep the platform operating and to connect those seeking to help others with those who have found themselves with no where to turn. See our 501 stance here.
We thank you for being here, however you may have arrived. Whether you are being courageous and asking for help or are deciding to do something amazingly humble and rewarding which is to step outside of what is ‘comfortable’ and help another human in need.
We honor a beloved long-time volunteer who recently passed away after a heroic battle with cancer. From a stool in her kitchen, she connected thousands of people in need with those offering to help.
