Good Evening my name is Susan. I am a single mother of my own two boys ages 12 and 9. I also have full custody of my 11 year old nephew. I moved to Ohio two weeks ago to leave a very bad domestic situation. When we left, we left with literally the clothes on our backs, some blankets in the car and what money I had saved up. I was able to rent us a small 3 bedroom apartment but we don’t yet have anything to go in it. Right after arriving to Ohio I was hospitalized for a condition called Guillain-Barré syndrome. I was in the hospital for 4 days and I am still having effects from it. All three boys have started school and are in desperate need of clothes and shoes more than anything. Two of the kids have already been bullied in school due to the lack of clothing and condition of their clothes. As a parent I feel so bad for what they are facing and knowing I have no way to provide Christmas for them this year. I have found work but won’t be able to start until the 18th of December. They kids somewhat understand our situation and they k penny we left but they do not understand why they will be the only kids not having Christmas. My 12 year old is wanting to refuse going to school since he has to alternate the 2 outfits he has. I feel hopeless as a mother. I have called EVERY social service and church around and all programs are filled. There is not anyone to help us so close to Christmas. The kids love music, books, games and normal kid stuff. They are not picky about clothing. If anyone can find it in their heart to please help us with Christmas we will most definitely appreciate it and pay it forward. I do not have family here and went as far as I could to leave our situation to keep the kids and myself safe when the police and courts couldn’t, although they did try. I knew starting over would be hard I never imagined it would be this hard. We left in the middle of the night when the time was right, and it was the only chance we had. Please monitor your heart to provide these boys at Christmas. They most definitely deserve as all children do. I have reached out to the local Salvation Army and United Way to try to help but whole programs are filled. No one is able to help for at least 6 to eight weeks. These boys stayed by my side in the hospital for four days. They never left my side and I will never leave theirs. God bless and thank you for reading this. if you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
