This past weekend, our family went through a frightening and life-changing event. On Sunday, November 16th, my children’s father became violent in our home and was arrested. He is currently in custody, and a two-year order of protection has been signed to ensure the safety of my children and myself.
While this was a necessary and critical step for our safety, it has left us in a very difficult position. He was the sole breadwinner, and now I am struggling to cover rent, utilities, and the basic needs of my two children — my 16-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter.
My children have endured years of emotional abuse, and this recent incident has deeply affected them. I have already put them in counseling and am actively supporting their mental and emotional healing, because helping them feel safe and supported is just as important as meeting our basic needs. My goal now is to help them heal, feel safe, and move into a brighter, healthier chapter of our lives.
Any support no matter how small would mean the world in helping us regain stability and create a safe, nurturing home. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping us find hope again.
