I’m a single mom of 2, my oldest is grown and out on his own. However my youngest who’s 19 suffers from Bipolar, PTSD, BPD, anxiety & depression. It took her turning 18 to be voluntarily placed if an adolescent residential mental health facility that is NOT for incarcerated youth. If you’re from NY you may already know how INCREDIBLY difficult it is to find adequate mental health needs for our youth. My daughter Cassidy is the sweetest young lady. She is kind, thoughtful, smart and so committed to her recovery and being capable of managing her mental illnesses. She has been voluntarily been in a residential faculty for 10 months.
I have been struggling with being unhoused due to the RIDICULOUS rent prices in my area. I work FT and always have but i can barely get by.
I provide all of Cassidys necessities in this facility without any financial help or emotional support from her other parent.
I just want my daughter to know all of her hard work and commitment to being a healthy Cass is not unnoticed. Cass would never be upset with me if i don’t provide an extravagant Christmas… she understands the value of hard earned money and realized very early on that buying Christmas gifts is so expensive and in her words “overrated”. Although she’ll say it doesn’t matter I know differently, she is just took kind and humble to say it.
I’m a few short weeks she will be graduating from this facility and moving on to a lower level care adult residential house where she is going to need EVERYTHING. Warm clothes for the winter due to her meds she has gained weight and her clothes no longer fit.
Although she’s very happy to get hand me downs or clothes other kids have left behind SHE DESERVES SO MUCH MORE.. More than i could ever provide her.
To anyone who would be so kind and help this momma make a special Christmas for a special young lady words will never be enough, THANK YOU, thank you so much ❤️
She will need all things for a dorm style living.
Warm clothes, a haircut, toiletries, sneakers , a coat and snow boots.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!
