Hurricane Milton destroyed our roof and walls in our home!
SOUTH CAROLINA / by 617795
Hello!
First I wanted to say that Milton destroyed our roof. Insurance wouldn’t cover it. we had to use what little money we had to pay somebody to patch our roof up, but the water damage down in our walls to our floor is still there. I have two kids with severe asthma and allergies to mold, and it is starting to affect them.
My family is also in a real need for some help. Because my husband has a good job we don’t qualify for any help. The problem is last December I woke up one day and could no longer walk. The pain was so extreme. I was rushed to the hospital. This year has been a deep dive into my health and I am seeing doctors a few times a week. Most of this is not covered by our insurance and I am having to pay out-of-pocket to get any help. we have had to make a decision to choose my medicine instead of paying our mortgage and cars. we thought that we would be able to catch up but with having seven people in our family it’s been impossible. Everything has gone up so much including our electric which we pay $800 a month for. It’s almost as much as our mortgage. With all of these things we got behind And it is about to be three months and they will begin for closing on us. Next our our vehicles, we have two vehicles and we are already three months behind on each. They are preparing to come get them. My husband will then lose his job. we just wanna get through the holidays and he will get extra work again beginning in January. But we have no idea how to make it till then. Our children are homeschooled and to watch them. Dig for food every day and not find any is really hard to watch. i’ve never had to ask for help like this before. I usually am the one giving. This is extremely humbling, but now I understand how people feel when they are in need. So I will take any help at all for my family. We have decided not to do Christmas because we can still celebrate the real meaning of Christmas without the gifts. It’s hard on my kids, but they understand. Between hurricane Milton and my health and care for me we are in such a bad and scary position.
thank you so much for reading, I really appreciate it.
