I am urgently in need of immediate rent assistance to prevent eviction. The leasing office manager told me yesterday that I needed to have confirmation in writing to prevent the constable coming to do the lock out. Preferably they would like to have the confirmation today, which I realize is a short time frame, but they will accept the proof of confirmation up until the constable comes to do the lock out, but because there is no way of knowing when that will happen they are asking for the confirmation to be provided as soon as possible and then they will cancel lock out. I am currently recovering from a medical procedure which had made this situation even more difficult, and the property is not very helpful or willing to provide a longer time frame, or some kind of payment arrangement. This situation is not just as simple as me not wanting to pay my rent, it began with the property not providing me with the 5 day notice which is legally necessary. I was told to look out for this notice so that I would know how much time I had to make the payment before it went to the legal dept. The notice never came, and then the property was not acknowledging that they failed to give me my 5 day notice, and when the court paperwork arrived I noticed the amount did not look correct. I called the law office that handles the evictions for my property and they said that the property would only give me until the end of the month (November) to pay the full amount owed, and then if it was not paid by the 1st of December I would have to pay the full balance plus Decembers rent immediately. I was told this on 11/26/2024, 2 days before Thanksgiving. The office was closed 11/28/2024 and 11/29/2024 for the holiday, and then they were closed for the weekend, and 12/01/2024 fell on that Sunday. So I was not really given the whole month, I was given one day. I attended the telephonic hearing to try to explain the issue with the 5 day notice and the amount due not looking correct. The lawyer for the property would not acknowledge the 5 day notice issue either, but I was correct on the amount due, they had not included a payment I made of $1100 so the balance was over $1000 more than it should have been. Had I had this correct amount and the proper notice I would have paid the balance prior to even having the court hearing and then there would have been nothing due until December and I would’ve been able to go through the normal process to have that rent paid and none of this would be happening right now and I would not have such a large balance due, and the balance itself is not just unpaid rent, thousands of dollars are just for the different fees and charges that are added on by the property and they seem to change the amounts and make them higher and higher with no explanation. Please help me prevent this eviction. As I said before , I would have resolved this last month if the property gave me my 5 day notice and if they gave me the correct amount that was due.
