My kiddos need a little holiday joy this season. After adopting families at the holidays for the past 20+ years, I now find myself on the side of needing to ask for a little help.
My ex and I are separated, with our divorce due to be finalized right around Christmas. Our kids are 12 and almost-14. Both have had a really rough year emotionally and physically. Both have invisible chronic illnesses that cause daily pain and lots of missed school/fun. They’ve spent numerous days each at children’s hospital to help alleviate some of their suffering. Additionally, both have been diagnosed with autism this year. They’ve been through a LOT.
I also have chronic illnesses and am awaiting knee surgery once I have insurance that will cover it. I don’t quite qualify for any state, county or federal services because I work *just enough* to cover my rent and utilities and groceries when combined with the money their dad is providing. This work usually leaves me laid up, icing for 2-3 days because of how it triggers my symptoms.
sob story over. If you are willing to help my kiddos, I would SO appreciate it and please know that when I’m back on my feet again, I’ll be right back here helping other families.
my oldest is almost 14. HE Loves anime, collecting/restoring antique China dolls, and creating art. He’s an amazing artist who loves to draw, watercolor, and mixed media. He is so sick so often he will likely have to switch to online school soon so could use a Chromebook or other laptop to do his schoolwork. He loves browsing at Hot Topic and Amazon for clothes that will fit him comfortably.
My younger son just turned 12. He LOVES animals, Lego Technix, Minecraft, “gen z memes” and Family Guy. He is learning to play the Bass and loves 90s alternative rock (vintage band T-shirts would be great!) He wants to start his own YouTube channel and is saving up to by a gaming/broadcasting computer setup. He just went through a huge growth spurt so has no clothes that fit right. He’s a youth large (14/16) and prefers athletic brands that are soft (but not sports teams or message tees or anything.) He also loves to dress up and likes solid color polo shirts that are soft and in fun colors. He has a huge heart and is completely misunderstood by the world.
We also have 3 furr-babies. A huge doggo and 2 sweet kitties.
I’m adjusting to my single life best I can. My main goal is for my kids & furr-babies to have a wonderful Christmas. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
