Hello all – 

I just found out about this site today so please excuse my awkwardness, it’s hard for me to ask for help in general. I am posting because I would like to see if anyone is able to help me with Christmas this year. I became a single mom of 4 last year after my husband passed away at the age of 37 and things have been super hard since. I was a stay at home parent to care for my kids, two of whom have special needs. Their ages are 14(b), 11(b), 8(g), 6(b). I am now working two jobs and attending college to complete the degree I started before his passing. I don’t have help or support from either side of the family, mine or his. 

We have needed to move 2 times in the past year, once because the landlord sold the property we had been staying in for 7 years only a few months after my husband passed, and again because the new apartment was severely infested with mice; it was not disclosed to me before we moved in and the landlord refused to do anything about it after I reported it multiple times. These moves took all of the savings I had, and I took out a personal loan in addition to that so I could afford the second move. All of our joint accounts and any of his property are still in probate; I am waiting to hear back about receiving survivor’s benefits for our children. 

I went to the Salvation Army in the next town over in October to register for Angel Tree but I was told they don’t serve my area, none of the Boston programs serve my area either. I am posting here as a last resort because I know I won’t be able to afford Christmas this year. I was hoping that I would be able to but the government shutdown has affected my hours in the past weeks. 

I have put together an Amazon wishlist with the things my kids asked me for this year if anyone is able to help. I know everyone has been going through it lately with everything going on, but it would really mean the world to me if they each got just one thing off their list this year.
