Single Mom’s Stage 4 Cancer Fight: Financial Relief Fund

ARIZONA / Posted 13 hours ago by 310185 / New

Hello,

My name is Heather, and I am a single mom to an amazing 9 year old boy. A year ago, my world was flipped upside down when I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer.

I have been undergoing treatment for the past year. Fortunately, once I hit my max out-of-pocket at the beginning of the year, my insurance covers the core treatment costs. I am incredibly happy to say that my disease is currently stable, the medication is doing its job, thank goodness. However, the financial burden of living with this diagnosis while raising my son alone has taken a massive toll, and I am still carrying a heavy load of medical debt from that first year of diagnoses and procedures.

To make ends meet, I work full-time at my son’s school, work a second part-time job on the weekends I don’t have him, and drive for Uber Eats on the side. This extra work isn’t for fun or to treat my son to special things—it is strictly for survival to pay our bills. We rent a home in the city where he goes to school. It isn’t cheap, but finding a safe area to raise my son as a single mother these days is very expensive.

Between working and taking care of my son, I am constantly on the move. While I am doing well on my treatment plan, I still experience days of complete exhaustion and severe fatigue. Yet, I always feel like I have no choice but to keep pushing through. Because of our financial situation, I can never take a day to just relax, reset, and give my body the break it desperately needs on my weekends alone. I am always forced to work just to ensure we don’t fall behind.

I am reaching out for help to lift some of this financial weight from my shoulders as I continue to fight this disease. Your support would give me the precious time to rest, let my body recover, and stop the constant cycle of overworking. I don’t want to run my body so far into the ground that it interferes with my health. I plan on being here for many, many more years to watch my son grow up.

Any assistance with our monthly rent or utilities would be an incredible blessing. Additionally, with Christmas just around the corner, your generosity would help ensure I can give my son a wonderful holiday despite these hardships.

Thank you so much for reading my story, for your prayers, and for any support you can provide to our family. It means more to us than words can say.

With gratitude,

Heather
