Hello, my name is Kate, I am a 45 year old widow. My husband\ soulmate passed away on Thanksgiving last year. This has been a very rough year and for some reason just this month has been worse. I have three teenagers, a 16 year old son and 15 year old daughter who are my biological children and 16 year old girl who moved in with us in June. Long story short I received a call from my daughter asking if her friend could move in since her mother kicked her out. Of course I agreed and left to pick the girls up. When we got home I moved all my personal belongings out of my bedroom and gave her the room so she could have privacy. I contacted her mother via text and her response was that since she does not want to watch her 5 siblings she does not need to be there. Since she has been living with us she has been able to play sports for school, join the student counsel, make friends, go to school dances etc…. She was not able to do these things while at her mothers due to her mother hibernating in her room while she had to watch the siblings, clean the house, laundry and feed the kids. She missed half the school year last year and now since she has been with us she is on the honor roll and has only missed 2 days. So as you can see I have had to rearrange my entire life this year from losing my husband to raising another teenager. Times have become very hard on me. I work part time at a church and I have applied to everywhere I can think of to supplement income. Recently social services has cut off my cash assistance which I was told was a mistake and I had to reapply. I reapplied and was told it could take up to 90 days to complete. I am having a very tough time being able to get the things that are needed to run my house smoothly like shampoo, conditioner, body wash and soap, personal hygiene products, laundry soup, toilet paper etc…. And now that winter is coming fast here on the east coast I am having a very hard time getting clothing for all three kids. I am not worried about myself since I can make due with what I have already.
While waiting for my cash assistance I have fallen way behind on bills such as rent, gas and electric and car insurance. I do not have a car payment thank goodness but it seems as though every week something else is going wrong with my vehicle. I have a 2001 ford escape with over 200,000 miles but its all I have and can not afford a reliable vehicle. I am asking for help with everyday items that we all need as I listed above. I am also hoping to find someone who may help us during this Holiday season to make sure we have a roof over our heads when Christmas Day arrives. I know this is a lot to ask for. Like I said this year has been extremely rough between my soulmate passing away and taking in another child to raise. and on top of all of that losing my full time position at a title company which is why i am only working part time at a church at the moment. If anyone is willing to help us it would be greatly appreciated beyond words. Thank you for taking time out of your bust day and reading my blog\story. I hope everyone has a great week and a wonderful holiday season.
